Positive Reaction to Expanded Club Offerings

Over the past two weekends nearly 100 athletes from Moose Jaw, Caronport and the surrounding area tried out for Phoenix Volleyball Club. The local initiative, founded by Ethan Larsen and Jadon Ward, had expanded their U14 and U16 boys team offerings from 2019 to include a U18 boys team, alongside a U14 and U18 girls team.

The success of the tryouts took even the organizers by surprise. “When we started the club last year we had no idea how much it would grow,” said co-Director Jadon Ward, “Our vision of empowering youth to succeed in life through sport has really caught on. We are so grateful to the people of Moose Jaw and area for their support. Very excited about what this 2020 Club season holds!”

Featured prominently on the teams are players from the Moose Jaw school season, whose varsity volleyball teams had great success. Vanier Collegiate Institute in particular won 4A Provincials with both their boys and girls teams. The club has also drawn in youth from all over southeast Saskatchewan, with players from Swift Current to White City playing for Phoenix Volleyball this year.

The Phoenix Volleyball 2020 Club season continues with a parent’s meeting Sunday at 7:00 at the Briercrest College gymnasium.
